About Talent Pathway
The Talent Pathway is structured in two distinct formats: a year-round fully-funded residential position in Florence, and a second consisting of a series of residential visits to our Florence studio. Both provide elite-level coaching and performance opportunities alongside our emerging artists.Singers receive access to high-level coaching and the opportunity to perform alongside established Mascarade artists. The Pathway is designed to complement the training singers receive at music colleges or equivalent institutions. Selected singers receive a bursary which covers travel, accommodation and training in Florence for the series of residential visits.
Identifying and Developing Extraordinary Potential
The Mascarade Talent Pathway provides a supportive environment where young singers can continue to develop without the pressures of formal assessment. The programme complements existing training through specialised coaching, personal development, and performance support. Singers work on the skills needed to grow as artists, including effective practice techniques, performance preparation, and psychological approaches to performing.

Preparing for the profession
Every artist’s journey at Mascarade is different. The Programme is shaped in close collaboration between each artist and the Mascarade Faculty and Team, evolving in response to their development and professional direction. Whether preparing for performance opportunities, navigating the next stage of their career, or building confidence within the profession, each artist receives support tailored to their individual journey.
Applications
Talent Pathway 2027
Mascarade Opera accepts applications on a rolling basis. Singers may submit their materials directly to auditions@mascaradeopera.com for consideration. Current applications are open to singers up to the age of 24, with particular consideration given to musicians from Italy and those currently studying in Italy.
How to Apply
Singers can apply by submitting:
• Links to two recent video recordings (made within the last three months) featuring arias, songs, or oratorio repertoire in two different languages
• A CV (not a biography) including the name of their current voice teacher
• A copy of a passport, ID card, or driver’s licence
Applications are reviewed by the Mascarade Opera artistic team, led by Director Dr Ralph Strehle.
Faculty
ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE IN A COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT
In addition to our core training faculty, we welcome coaches and industry professionals from around the world to work with our singers each year. These visiting experts bring different perspectives and areas of expertise, giving artists the opportunity to work with leading professionals beyond the regular faculty.
Recent guests have included Sherman Lowe, Vivica Genaux, James Platt (vocal consultants), Wyn Davies (conductor), Noa Naamat (stage director), and Federico Grazzini (stage director).
